Launch of Madhuban 2021-22

Report by Shreya Pandey

Covid-19's terrible dominion over the world continued during the session 2021-22 as well, therefore MH Vatavaran held its events online with the same mantra as before: "Environmentalism begins in our rooms!" Fortunately in February 2022, with the decline in Covid- 19 cases, colleges reopened and MH Vatavaran got the chance to conduct offline activities. Although the session 2021-22 was challenging, MH Vatavaran volunteers proved that they like challenges by making this session a resounding hit. On the beautiful occasion of World Environment Day, June 5, 2022, MH Vatavaran launched its second edition of Online Journal, "Madhuban 2021-22," to recognize and celebrate the work of MH Vatavaran towards protecting the environment.

Madhuban is an amalgam of creativity and efforts of MH Vatavaran volunteers. It contains information about the events that were conducted throughout the session, achievements of MH Vatavaran and creative contributions from volunteers and faculty members. This year, a feedback segment has also been introduced. The cover page of Madhuban was made by Dr. Deepali (Faculty advisor of MH Vatavaran and Faculty of Department of Botany, Miranda House).

The virtual launch via Google Meet was scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Prof. Bijayalaxmi Nanda (Principal, Miranda House), Dr. Bani Roy (Former Faculty Advisor, MH Vatavaran), Dr. Rekha Kumari (Convenor, MH Vatavaran), Dr. Amrita Tripathi Sheikh (Senior Faculty Advisor, MH Vatavaran) and other faculty advisors of MH Vatavaran marked the event with their auspicious presence. Former President of MH Vatavaran Ms. Sanjwala Mukund (2020-21) was also present at the event along with MH Vatavaran union members, MH Vatavaran volunteers and Miranda House students.

The session began with the playing of the Lung Care Foundation's anthem on Clean Air, 'Socho Na.' You can check the video below:

Following that, a video was shown that compiled the entries received from volunteers for the "Anti-litter Drive" (held on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022) under the theme "Only One Earth." Ms. Ishita Sukhija (President, 2022-23) then invited Prof. Bijyalaxmi Nanda (Principle, Miranda House) to officially launch the second edition of "Madhuban." Ms. Ishita Sukhija, Ms. Gurnoor Kaur (Vice President, 2022-23), Ms. Kanpuriya (General Secretary, 2022-23) and Ms. Aarti Mahato (Joint Secretary, 2022-23) briefly explained the contents of the e-journal. The session made the audience nostalgic, and MH Vatavaran's efforts were lauded by all. Short messages from respected Principal ma'am, MH Vatavaran convenor, senior faculties, and former MH Vatavaran president followed. The session ended with the vote of thanks by Komal (President - MH Vatavaran, 2021-22).
