Location of Rain-water Collecting structure
Water conservation and recharge are of paramount importance to ensure water security in our country and to protect lives and livelihoods. To contribute to this crucial cause, Miranda House College, University of Delhi, has diligently maintained a Rainwater storage System since 2019.
Rainwater Storage System Overview:
The Rainwater Harvesting System at Miranda House College comprises three underground collecting tanks located near the sports complex. With a high capacity of two lakh litre, this system effectively collects rainwater for future use, primarily for irrigation purposes.
Plan for Rainwater Storage Tank:
The Rainwater Storage System has been carefully designed to maximize efficiency and collection capacity. With detailed plans in place, the system demonstrates the college's commitment to sustainable water management.
Location of Rainwater Collecting Unit:
The college's Rainwater Storage System is strategically positioned underground near the sport complex area of the college premises to optimize water collection from rooftop areas and other surfaces. The system efficiently stores rainwater to reduce runoff and promote responsible water usage.
Existing Details and Functionality:
The Rainwater Storage System has been successfully implemented with three collecting underground tank, boasting a capacity of two lakh litre and it has been used for irrigation purpose. The system collects rainwater from the sports lawn area, covering 61,160.86 square meters, with a rooftop area of 14,569.59 square meters. The approving agency for this system is the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Regular Cleaning of Rain Water Storage system
Worker from MCD regularly visit to our college for examination of water storage system. An existing Rainwater storage structure in college is regularly cleaned and maintained.
